Augusto F. Barreto

Founding Partner and Head of Investment Banking at CAPIA.

Partner responsible for CAPIA’s investment banking activities. Mr. Barreto has advised all the relevant local conglomerates in the Andean Region in several transactions throughout a longstanding career as investment banker. Prior to joining CAPIA, from 2010 to 2013, Mr. Barreto was Managing Director at Lazard and was responsible for the firm’s presence in Peru. Previously, Mr. Barreto worked for 11 years at Citigroup Global Markets, where he was a Director responsible for the firm's investment banking business in Latin America (ex Brazil and Mexico) and Head of Mergers & Acquisitions for Latin America. He was also Vice President of Investment Banking at Salomon Smith Barney and Salomon Brothers in New York and London. In his more than 20 years of experience as an investment banker, Mr. Barreto has executed more than 80 transactions throughout the region for a total transaction value in excess of US$ 80 billion. Mr. Barreto holds a Bachelor degree in Economics and a Bachelor degree in Business Administration from Florida International University, as well as a Masters Degree from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Barreto is a Fulbright Scholar and Organization of American States Scholar.
